Looking for something fun to do with the family this weekend? Then head out to the N.C. Museum of History in Raleigh, NC. ”Celebrate NC Sports” is a FREE event taking place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 9 both inside the museum and outside on Bicentennial Plaza.
Visitors of all ages will enjoy seeing NASCAR stock cars, watching a Harley Davidson “jump start” motorcycle demonstration, watching the Bouncing Bulldogs jump rope team, Raleigh Cheer Extreme All Stars Gym cheerleaders, and the Carolina Roller Girls skate. Attendees will have a chance to talk with athletes from Carolina Hurricanes, NC Amateur Soccer Association, Raleigh Rugby Football Club, and Special Olympics.
Kids can participate in all kinds of games and activities, such as a kids scavenger hunt with prizes, basketball-shooting challenge, putt-putt, and making NASCAR racing flags and trading cards. Adults can test their NC sports trivia and taste great tailgating recipes. Also, Author Dolly Dozier will be there to there to talk about her new book, Peggy Noodle Hula Hoop Queen, which involves the adventures of a twelve-year-old girl.
In addition to free admission to the museum and all these events, parking is free. Additional entertainment will be provided by radio stations 99.9 FM and 620 The Buzz.
