During the day, residents and visitors alike enjoy the quiet beauty of the peaceful coasts and Lowcountry of South Carolina. But in a state where soldiers fell, slaves died without knowing freedom, and the practice of voodoo is still an open secret, the night is bound to be a bit more exciting.
Whether you are an amateur ghost-hunter, a South Carolina buff, or just love a good scare, you will enjoy these tales of ghostly encounters and supernatural happenings. From the bustling streets of Charleston and the graceful old plantations, to the foreboding coastal forts and the darkest heart of the swamps, spirits and creatures seem to lurk in every corner.
Gather ’round the campfire or snuggle up alone under a quilt and enter the world of spirits. Who knows, you may meet one of these ghosts one day.

Really cool book
“This is just a great book if you like ghost stories. I’ve lived in South Carolina for 12 years and haven’t heard many of them. So well-presented!”

If You Like Ghost Stories
…this is a great book! The stories are well-written and beg you to read just one more before bedtime. The creepy sketches help bring each tale alive too!

Well worth the wait
This is by far the best ghost book Zepke has written. My favorites are Lowcountry Voodoo, Gentleman Ghost and Headless Torso, and Hitchhiking Ghosts. A fun read!

“Having read all of the published works of Terrance Zepke, I feel this book maintains the quality of her earlier writing. It is well thought out, interesting, well researched & most of all it is exciting. If you enjoy a good ghost story with exciting twists & settings you can actually visit, then this book is a must. It is sprinkled with unique illustrations & directions for visiting some of the famous as well as some of the lesser known locations where the ledgends began! You don’t even have to save it for a stormy night, it creates it’s own eerie ambiance. Enjoy! ”

“The author holds you spellbound by her well-told tales that grab you by the throat and have you looking over your shoulder to the very last page. You won’t be able to put her book down until you’ve read all of it. The ghostly illustrations add to the chills and I thoroughly enjoyed each haunting tale. ”
Author’s Note: Even though Ghosts of the Carolina Coasts is my best-selling ghost book, I think The Best Ghost Tales of South Carolina is my favorite. Sshhh. There is no shortage of ghosts in South Carolina, particularly in the Lowcountry. But I searched long and hard to find hard to find ghosts! These twenty-five tales are sure to captivate readers, especially Lizard Man, Hound of Goshen, Devil’s Castle, Ghost of Fort Sumter, Ghosts of Hagley Landing, Spirit of Madame Talvande, Murder Times Two, Land’s End Light, Betrayal, and The Dwarf Spirit.
