Outdoor Dramas Across North Carolina

North Carolina has one of the highest number of outdoor productions each summer. If you get the chance, you should check out some of these long-running productions. Visit their websites for specific hours and dates but they generally run from mid-June to mid-August:

FROM THIS DAY FORWARD is about a people known as the Waldenses. This year celebrates its 45 season. Valdese Theatre, Valdese, NC. www.oldcolonyplayers.com

HORN IN THE WEST is the country’s oldest Revolutionary War drama. This year marks its 61st season. 591 Horn in the West Drive, Boone NC. www.horninthewest.com

SWORD OF PEACE is about the Quakers who settled in Cane Creek (now known as Snow Camp). 301 Drama Road, Snow Camp, NC. www.snowcampdrama.com

PATHWAY TO FREEDOM is meant to educate attendees about slavery and the Underground Railroad. 301 Drama Road, Snow Camp, NC. www.snowcampdrama.com

THE LOST COLONY reveals the real first settlement in America. 1409 National Park Drive, Manteo, NC. www.thelostcolony.org From the 2011 Production

UNTO THESE HILLS traces the history of the Cherokee Indians. It is one of the longest running outdoor dramas in the U.S. 564 Tsali Blvd (Hwy. 441) Cherokee, NC. www.cherokeehistoricalorg.
