National Library Week

Filed Under: Author News Tagged With: BOOKS

Libraries across America have been hit hard by budget cuts but you can help. National Library Week is April 14 – 20. Show your support to these wonderful institutions:

1. Get a library card if you don’t already have one. The number of cardholders is an important way that a library proves its worth at budget time.

2. Consider being a donor. It typically cost just $10 – $20 for a year membership. Look for donation jars at the desk and give some spare change. Also, many libraries have bookstores and/or book sales events with every dime you spend going towards the library and its programs, such as bringing authors in to visit, etc. (You can also donate books, DVDs, etc. to your library for these fundraising purposes).

3. Let local and state legislators know how much the local public library means to you with an email expressing your support. This does make a difference when budget cuts are being considered.
