Recently, I saw a three-part special on National Geographic Channel titled THE 80’s: A DECADE THAT DEFINED US. I thought it might be fun to share some of the highlights of the 80s. So, for the next three days, I’ll be sharing things that came out of the 80s.
1. Reagan Revolution. Former Actor Ronald Reagan won the presidency in 1980 and leads America in what has become known as the Reagan Era or Reagan Revolution.
2. U.S. beat Russia in the Olympics for the first time ever in hockey (and went on to win the gold for hockey). If you want to see a great movie highlighting this event, check out ‘Miracle’ starring Kurt Russell.
3. IBM introduces the personal computer.
4. Hip hop/Rap is born. No radio station would play this music until a group called Run-DMC collaborated with the legendary rock group, Aerosmith, to do a remake of their hit “Walk This Way.” It sold more than one million copies.
5. Sony Walkman was the first portable stereo invented. (I still have one of these!)
