September 21: BREWGRASS FESTIVAL (Asheville, NC). Wow! Nearly 50 breweries will be on hand to showcase 120 specialty beers. Additionally, there will be music and food. www.brewgrassfestival.com

September 28: HARVEST DAY FESTIVAL (Inman, SC). This event includes food vendors, arts and crafts booths, a children’s zone, and more. FREE. www.inmanscchamber.org/harvest-day

October 4 – 5: 19th ANNUAL BEAUFORT SHRIMP FESTIVAL (Beaufort, SC). Shrimp, live music, arts and crafts will be abundant. FREE. www.beaufortshrimpfestival.com

October 11 – 12: 17th ANNUAL HISTORIC GHOST WALK (Elizabeth City, NC). This is a unique twist on the traditional ghost walk. www.historicghostwalk.org

October 26: BERTIE SPOOKTACULAR (Windsor, NC). This event includes a costume contest, music, food, 5K, 1-mile run/walk, and more. http://site.spooktacular5k.com BGTSC

It’s not a festival but you don’t want to miss the annual Lowcountry Culinary Celebration at Southern Living’s Taste of Charleston (September 27 – 29). Friday and Saturday will feature various events at different venues and the main event will be held on Sunday at Boone Hall Plantation.
