1. Halloween at Hershey Park. There’s almost too much fun to be had! The rides take on a haunted theme, such as the Nightmarish Carousel. There are many special events, such as the Hershey’s S’mores Campfire Party featuring smores, cocoa, songs and stories. At their ZooAmerica, participants are permitted a rare glimpse of Creatures of the Night with an after hours flashlight tour. 2. Howl-o-Ween at Great Wolf Lodge. The huge indoor water park features seasonal activities, such as Monster Bash party, Spooktacular Story Time, Trick-or-Treat Trail, costume parades, and Cub Club for small children offers everything from witchy crafts to pumpkin painting. 3. Visit a Ghost Town. Every weekend in October, Rocking Horse Ranch in New York turns into a ghost town. 4. Halloween at Disney. This includes lots of fun activities both at the theme parks and at the resorts, such as Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, Trick-or-treating along Main Street, and HalloWishes Fireworks Show. 5. Haunted Night of Lights. Georgia’s Lake Lanier Island Resort offers guests something extraordinary during October. There is a three-mile drive through a Halloween themed light display. 7. Kennywood Amuseument Park, PA. The rest of the year this is a PG-rated theme park, but come fall, the Phantom arrives. 9. Knott’s Scary Farm is a seasonal event held at Knott’s Berry Farm amusement park. It takes place during the last week of September until November 1. There’s stuff for all ages to enjoy. www.haunt.knotts.com
10. Dollywood Harvest Celebration in Pigeon Forge, TN. The only thing scary about this fall event is the rides, such as the Tennessee Tornado. This is a roller coaster that features 128-foot drops and travels up to 65mph. The whole family will enjoy most rides, music, and crafts found here each fall. Additionally, the Smoky Mountains and Gatlinburg are roughly four miles to the north. It’s worth the short trip to see the spectacular fall foliage and decorations, which includes hundreds of pumpkins and gourds and other seasonal decorations. www.dollywood.com
