For those who live near or plan to travel to the Cape Fear Coast this month, here are some exciting Halloween options:

  1. Batty Battleship’s Halloween Bash on 10/25. Meet Batty Battleship and his brother, Buggy, aboard the old Battleship NC. Tricked out for Halloween, this spooky old (and haunted!) ship is the perfect backdrop for some seasonal fun. There will be trick or treating, a petting zoo, bouncy house and all kinds of games and activities, special guests, goodies, and more. $. www.battleshipnc.com.
  2. Haunted Library. All ages will appreciate these scary tales, a story walk, and witching hour. This storytelling festival is free at the New Hanover County Public Library. www.nhclibrary.org.
  3. Trick or Treat Under the Sea. A fun even for the whole family is this special night at the Fort Fisher Aquarium. Highlights include trick or treating around the aquarium, storytelling, haunted gardens, face painting, magic show, “spooky” divers inside the tanks, and more. $. http://www.ncaquariums.com/fort-fisher-special-events.
  4. Beer Festival. For adults looking for some seasonal fun, there are a couple of options. The Voracious Rare Beer Festival (10/28)and the Lighthouse Beer & Wine Festival (10/29). We’re talking about more than 50 beers (many you’ve never even heard of and some are sure to be pumpkin ales) consumed aboard the Battleship NC. There will also be live music, appetizers and more. At the Lighthouse Beer & Wine Festival, there will be more than 100 craft breweries and wineries in attendance. Participants will enjoy samples, live music, food vendors, and more. $. www.lighthousebeerandwine.com.
