Preston Castle, formerly the Preston School of Industry, stands alone atop a hill in California’s Gold Country. A foreboding, gothic structure, the school was used for years to house troubled boys. Designed to teach the young men trades, as opposed to holding them in juvenile facilities, Preston was largely a very successful path to rehabilitation. However, over the 70 years Preston was in operation, there were many deaths within the halls including juveniles succumbing to tuberculosis and at least one shooting of an inmate during an escape attempt. But perhaps the most infamous tragedy at Preston was the highly mysterious and still unsolved beating death of a housekeeper by the name of Anna Corbin in the school’s basement.
Many believe the ghosts of Anna and those tormented youths still walk the castle’s time worn halls. This weekend event will be your chance to find out if these haunted rumors are true…
