Halloween Candy Corn

Did you know that October 30 is National Candy Corn Day? More than 35 million pounds or 9 billion pieces are made each year!

Fun facts:

One piece has 3 calories.

Candy corn is fat free.

This candy has been around since 1880.

There is no corn in candy corn, only corn syrup.

Target stores are now selling Candy Corn Soda during Halloween season (www.jonessoda.com).

Hershey’s now sells candy corn kisses.

Most of us absolutely love or passionately hate candy corn.

 

Recipe for Candy Corn Crispy Treats

2 cups of candy corn

6 cups of rice cereal

6 cups of minature marshmallows

1/3 cut butter or margarine

15 drops of red food coloring

Melt butter. Add marshmallows. Stir in food coloring. Mix well. Add cereal and candy corn. Mix well. Press into 10 x 9 or 13 x 9-inch pan that has been coated with cooking spray. Let cool and then cut into bars or squares.
