Summer is coming to a close. Goodbye hot weather! Goodbye humidity! Hello Fall! Hello Halloween!
For the past decade I have worked nearly every day during October giving book talks, workshops, school visits, and library programs. I have been longing to enjoy Halloween, my favorite holiday, instead of working so hard. Well, this year it seems I will get my wish. While I will miss the revenue and talking about my books with so many interested readers of all ages, I will get to celebrate Halloween. I won’t be attending any festivals or haunted attractions, but I will decorate to the hilt and make some fun recipes. I may host a small gathering outside on my deck, yard, and around my new (awesome) firepit, which I will decorate with outdoor Halloween props!
With folks spending so much time at home these days, you may be considering the same thing. You may also be wondering how to safely do it. With this in mind, I have made many significant revisions to my popular, Happy Halloween! Hundreds of Perfect Party Recipes, Delightful Decorating Ideas & Awesome Activities. These include single serve recipes, socially safe activities, and even more affordable decorating tips. I have also added more recipes with less than five ingredients, pet treats, cheap and easy party favors, and more!
HOT OFF THE PRESS! And the best part is that the book is FREE if you are a member of Kindle Unlimited or $4.99 if you are not. There is also a print version if you prefer. Click here for more information!
FUN FACT: Halloween Harvest Moon will appear on October 1. It will be bigger and brighter than usual. Oh, yeah, and it will be orange (like a pumpkin)! There will be a Blue Moon on October 31 but you will not be able to discern it is blue from here. The next blue moon will not be until 2023. Now I know where the saying “This only happens once in a blue moon.” comes from!
I was bummed at first about not getting to work like I normally do during October or at least go somewhere creepy and haunted, but now I am excited about turning my home and yard into a spooky fun place and whipping up some frightfully fun recipes! I hope you will also get into the spirit and find lots of helpful hints in this book. As we get closer to Halloween, I will probably post a few tips and a recipe or two on this site, so be on the lookout. I will also post updates about Halloween activities and you can decide which, if any, you feel are safe. Right now, the only big attraction I know that will be open is Busch Gardens Howl-o-Scream at Tampa, FL and Williamsburg, VA. Open weekends only 9/25 – 11/1. No indoor haunted houses, only open air haunt zones and entertainment. Reservations required due to reduced capacity restrictions.
FUN FACT: 12% of Hershey’s annual revenue comes from Halloween candy sales!
