Here are five things you need to know before you go…
1. Get a National Parks Pass to save big $$$.
2. Make sure you pay attention to pet regulations. In most parks, pets must be leashed and never left unattended (outdoors or in a vehicle). Pets are not permitted indoors or on some trails or areas.
3. Bring the right gear. Don’t wear cotton clothing and make sure you have what you need or can rent it, such as a canoe or grill.
4. Make reservations if you’re planning to stay at a park lodge or campsite.
5. Stay up to date with weather alerts, especially if you’ll be hiking or camping.
