Original Gullah Festival

Filed Under: Author News, Nautical News Tagged With: Beaufort, Carolina, Festivals, Gullah, SC Lowcountry

The Gullahs date back as far as the South Carolina Lowcountry. For those looking to learn more about them or just partake in some good old-fashioned fun, mark the date…

WHAT: Original Gullah Festival

WHEN: May 27 – 29, 2016

WHERE: Waterfront Park, 1010 Bay Street, Beaufort SC

HOW MUCH: $5 gate fee on Friday; $25 gate fee on Saturday & $20 gate fee on Sunday (some activities will require an additional fee)

WHERE TO BUY TICKETS OR LEARN MORE: www.theoriginalgullahfestival.org

WHAT ELSE DO I NEED TO KNOW: No alcohol or drugs or pets are permitted. Chairs and coolers are allowed but coolers are subject to search. This event dates back to 1986 and this year is the 30th anniversary. Participants can expect Gullah cuisine, arts & crafts, storytelling (my favorite), musical performances, discussions and presentations, quilt-making workshops, sweetgrass basket-making workshop, Gullah tours, Kiddie Village, zumba classes and more.
