It’s summer time! Time to hit the beach! The good news is that the Wright Memorial Bridge re-opened in late May. It has been closed for more than eight months due to some issues that DOT needed to address. This is the bridge that links all traffic coming from Virginia and beyond to the Outer Banks. If you’re coming to the Outer Banks via Highway 158, you take this bridge to enter Dare County. The bad news is that the bridge will close again come September so that the DOT can finish their work. Due to the long harsh winter they were unable to complete their task before summer. The bridge is safe and the most expedient way for tourists coming from northern states to get onto the Outer Banks.
