FRYING PAN SHOALS LIGHT TOWER (near Bald Head Island, NC)

One of only a handful of Texas tower lights still in existence…

FYI: Reserved weekends will accommodate up to 8 guests who will have the entire tower for their use.  It can also be rented by your group or party for your special and unique occasion.  If you will let us know about your desired stay we will contact you shortly and will do our best to accommodate your request.  Transportation can be provided by boat or helicopter from local area marinas and airport locations but is not included in your weekend stay purchase.

The tower is being restored with 8 private rooms ALL which are ocean facing. booking is straight forward and simple with the cost being $300 per person for 2 nights on the Frying Pan Tower in 2012.  Arrivals typically are midday Friday with departures Sunday afternoon.  Your booking provides you lodging and access to prepare your hot meals and a chance to experience the views from your room at 85’ above the ocean.  We provide basic food stuffs, similar to renting a beach house.  (beds, clean sheets, towels and kitchen amenities.) Please plan on packing out your desired meal items but don’t worry about utensils, seasonings, condiments.  We require 2 Frying Pan Tower staff people travel out with your group for safety and since we have reduced rates during restoration and don’t live there fulltime, we require transportation of these 2 FPT staff members with your group. Each room has a single bed in classic Coast Guard fashion and yes there are normal comforts such as lights, running water, full kitchen amenities, pool table, telescope, and digital TV on a 8’ projector.  The Frying Pan Tower is outfitted to accommodate 8 overnight guests.  Please consider your adventure on the tower comparable to a blend between camping and renting a beach house with the difference being 85’ in height and 30+ miles out in the Atlantic ocean! All guests are required to sign a liability release waiver before boarding.  We consider your safety the most important part of having a great adventure.  This facility is out in the open ocean and is a very dangerous place where foolish action can result in serious consequences very quickly.  This is not your normal vacation weekend but one that due to it’s unique character will be a trip that you will be talking about for years to come!  This is as Time Magazine quoted, a “rustic” location meaning there is still plenty of rust!

This information was taken from Frying Pan Shoals Light Tower’s official website. For more information and a list of companies that can provide transport to the tower: www.FPTower.com
