Okay, so as of right now when I am writing this post (4/7) I STILL don’t have my taxes done. Remarkably, Sara is more organized than me. In fact, she wrote a great post so I’m just going to link to it (so that I can get back to my taxes). I am going to include a link to the IRS Publication 463 and allowable deductions for travel, which includes conferences, business trips, etc. Remember that we are NOT tax experts. Sara and I are just reminding fellow writers that there are lots of deductions you can make, ranging from Scrivener software to mileage (or gas) for book events. But the most important thing we wanted you to take away from this podcast is to keep good records year round so that the process is that much easier come tax time. OK, so I really have to get back to my shoebox of receipts now…
