If you have never been to the Outer Banks then you need to add it to your travel list. You will love it! If you have been, you know what I’m talking about. There are lots of great things to see and do along this stretch of coast but I have narrowed it down to ten for this post:
- Hang gliding at Jockey’s Ridge.
- Exploring Portsmouth Island, America’s only seaside ghost town.
- Sightseeing and camping on Ocracoke Island, which is accessible only by ferry.
- Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge is home to lots of wildlife, including many species of birds, alligators, and the rare red wolf.
- Enjoying a cold drink at Outer Banks Brewing Station.
- Visiting the Graveyard of the Atlantic Museum.
- Touring the Whalehead Club.
- Taking a Wild Horse Tour at Corolla.
- Night climb of Cape Hatteras Lighthouse, which is the tallest beacon in America.
- Eating delicious local seafood.
