Top Ten U.S. Beach Destinations

Filed Under: Free Travel Reports, General Travel

The list of best beaches changes from year to year, according to the source and their criteria. But these places consistently make the top twenty list year after year.

1. South Beach (Miami, FL)

2. Myrtle Beach/Grand Strand, SC

3. Waikiki Beach (Honolulu, Oahu)

4. Mission Beach (San Diego, CA)

5. Virginia Beach, VA

6. Saint Pete Beach, FL

7. Daytona Beach, FL

8. Higgs Beach (Key West, FL)

9. Hilton Head Island, SC

10. Cape Hatteras National Seashore (Outer Banks, NC)

*When planning your beach vacation, be sure to do your research. Make sure the destination has what your family is looking for. For example, Myrtle Beach has miles of great beaches, but if you’re looking for a quiet or remote beach, this is not it! But nearby Pawleys Island and Kiawah Island  fit the bill. Check message boards and travelers sites, such as TripAdvisor, www.tripadvisor.com, before booking anything. Read what other travelers and experts are saying about a particular hotel or activity or if folks are recommending you rent a house or better to book a hotel room? Note that house rentals usually have one-week rental minimums in peak season. Specials and coupons are abundant for those who bother to look.
