When Should You Buy Airline Tickets to Get the Best Deal?

Filed Under: Air Travel, Free Travel Reports, Terrance Talks Travel Tagged With: Flying

Airfares are going up due to high fuel costs and supply and demand. While most airlines have cut many flights, demand for business and leisure travel continues to rise.

So what are summer travelers looking for the best airfare deals supposed to  do?

It depends on when you’re traveling. If you’re looking to go somewhere this spring or early summer, you definitely need to buy ASAP.

But if you won’t be traveling until July or August, it is best to wait a little longer. The reason being that many airlines won’t release their cheapest fares until at least mid-to-late June.

That said, the exception is European travel. It is anticipated that flights to Europe will be at full or near full capacity this summer, which means there won’t be many deals offered. As is often the case with Europe, booking sooner rather than later is usually best.

Keep in mind that the summer Olympics will be held in London, England in July, so airfares will be high and hard to get (so will hotel rooms and train tickets).

I’ll be writing a blog about everything you need to know about traveling to London this summer, so be sure to check back next month to read all about it.
