“Either write something worth reading or do something worth writing.” -Benjamin Franklin
Welcome to the first episode of the Writer’s Lounge: Writing a Fiction Series. My co-host, Sara Whitford, and myself will be discussing topics that are relevant to all writers, but I promise the podcasts will be fun, as well as informative.
Our first show is all about writing a fiction series. Since Sara has just released the fifth book in her historical fiction and adventure series, I was excited to be able to interview her and talk about what’s involved in writing a fiction series and what we need to know if we plan to or are attempting to write a fiction series. Sara shared some great advice and was candid about some of the mistakes she has made along the way, including tossing out a manuscript she had been working on for more than seven years! Listen up to learn why this was not a mistake but a must. Since Sara’s Adventure Fletcher series remains on the best-seller list, this is a show worth listening to and advice worth following.
Sara and I co-hosted the podcast, A WRITER’S JOURNEY: FROM BLANK PAGE TO PUBLISHED, for two years. During that time we covered everything you need to know to go from having an idea to having a published book. We walk you through the process sharing dozens of essential resources, tips, techniques, and writing tools that will make the process much easier. Click here if you’d like to access these shows!
Our new writing podcast is what we’ve learned along the way and are still learning–and I’ve been in this business for twenty years! We’ll interview other authors, reveal the best marketing strategies, talk about the latest publishing trends, a writer’s life, and much more. In addition to being available on terrancezepke.com and sarawhitford.com, the shows will also be available on iTunes and Google Podcast App.
At the end of each episode, I’ll highlight a famous writer and share their favorite drink. We are in a writer’s lounge, after all, and many famous writers liked to imbibe, and had a favorite drink. So this show features F. Scott Fitzgerald (1896-1940), who is considered to be one of the greatest American writers of all time. Some of his titles include The Great Gatsby, This Side of Paradise, and Tender is the Night. His favorite drink was a Gin Rickey: 2 oz. gin, .75 oz. lime juice, and top with club soda.
